Here’s a very short story for you 
or maybe for someone else

I FOUND THE TAPE 
YOU MADE ME
ALL THAT TIME AGO

Made by me using: a pen, blank ink, nice off-white recycled paper and one of those letter stamps you add the letters to with tweezers.

As you can see, it folds up into a little envelope and then unfolds into a story and also a picture which flows together - for example the roots from the trees flowing from the loose cassette tape.

‘Art’ is a funny old thing
I was having 
what was very much - an off day
and couldn’t get my brain going
Rather than doing 
what I was meant to be doing 
I started a very overdue
tidy of my studio
and found a shoe box
of my old things
and in there 
was a compilation tape
entitled: 
‘See you again x’

my old Walkman was in there too
(You may have seen the photo I posted at the time…?)

The feeling 
of holding the tape in my fingers 
for the first time
in so many years 
and the care taken making it
stayed in my mind
and kind of in my fingers
if you know what I mean…
and over the Christmas break
I started drawing this

‘Art’ is a funny old thing 
An idle off day 
is sometimes all you need
