The tide came in
Share
Hello
Sorry to have not been in touch for quite a while
I have been busy working on two new books
and some new ideas for maps and illustrations too
all of which have filled my brain
However
I promised to send something
every now and again
when I had something to say
so here are some words
and a very short film for you
about the importance of:
slowing down
and
observing
and
even
stopping
sometimes
I hope you enjoy it
Thanks as always for your support
All the best
Chris Snow

I stopped
and watched
the tide come in
Properly watched
It felt
strangely
reassuring
that
the tide came in
again
when there is so much
changing around us
The water
seemed
patient
and
universally wise
Calmly
going around
shells
bumps
and obstacles
rather than wasting energy
fighting over them
The beach crackled
I realised
I was smiling
I felt
like an important lesson
was taking place
around me
I realised
I had started filming it
hand shaking (sorry about that)
as the Moon
pulled at the water
and the Earth spun
under it
and the water
finally
touched my feet
I snapped out
of my slow moment
that had seemed like hours
to a young voice
desperate to get on with life
THE
TIDE
CAME
IN
(The film is only three minutes long
If there is a lesson here it is
surely
the reminder
that if you stop
and engage
time seems to slow down
and you notice more
so
go big screen
turn the volume up (headphones are better)
and
hopefully this three minutes
will
slow your heart beat
and
slow down time
as you watch the water
work its way
around
the bigger shells
and obstacles
and
the tide comes in
again)
