A made to order, unique print of a bird and Ordnance Survey map of your choice. A gift for a map or bird loving friend or relative or a maybe just for you....?

I love maps and have used them in my work for quite a while now. The images shown here are of bird silhouettes printed over sections of Ordnance Survey maps.

The maps are all produced from between 1920 to 1960. I particularly like this era as the print colours and quality are beautiful. 

These usually take between one and two weeks to produce.

Colours

Prints are available in red, blue, green, purple or teal (blue/green).

You can see examples of these in the photos.

Examples of these colours are: red e.g. woodpecker picture, blue e.g. heron picture, green e.g. Curlew pictures, purple e.g. buzzard picture, teal e.g. red kite #2/heron

Birds

Bird silhouettes available are; Red Kite #1, Red Kite #2, Buzzard, Wood Pecker, Cormorant, Curlew #1, Curlew #2, Herring Gulls, Barn Owl, Heron, Raven, Parakeet and Swallows. I'm open to suggestions though if you have something else in mind - they need to be identifiable by their silhouette rather than their colour though.

Location

It is best to provide a postcode and highlight any landmarks you hope to include.

I try to position the map so that the features work with the silhouette of the bird.

When you order you can add any details, such as the bird you would like to feature, the colour of the ink you would prefer and any particular landmarks you would like to try and include.

This print is available framed or unframed and you can also decide whether you would like it mounted in an off-white mount.

If you select ‘30x40cm print’ then you will receive a unique print featuring an area of map of your choice with an ink silhouette of a bird of your choice. It is a high quality, fade resistant print. It is printed using ultrachrome ink on tiziano acid free paper. The price of this listing reflects the time spent preparing the map and making the print as well as material and postage costs.

If you select ‘Mounted print’ then you will receive the print hung in an off-white mount ready to frame. The mounted dimensions of the unframed print are 40x50 cms which means you can buy a frame from a shop rather than have one made, should you wish. The extra cost associated with this option is mostly due to the complications of sending the print flat in the post, the additional packaging and postage costs.

If you select ‘Framed print’ then you will receive the print, hung in a mount and framed ready to hang on the wall. The frame is a wood effect square edged frame as shown in the photos. The frame has an acrylic front rather than glass so is suitable for sending in the post.
