Information about commissioning me for work - perhaps you have an idea for a picture you would like

I am very happy to take on suitable commissions.

The idea of this page is to give you and idea of how this works and also what you can expect to pay.

I tend to produce two different types of commission - 'bird silhouettes over maps' or 'illustration style pictures with a map' where there is a landscape, buildings or people in the foreground.

If you have a look at the photos it should give you an idea of both of these styles.

All my work is made using the highest quality, fade resistant inks I can find, on thick, acid free, cotton rich paper - so whatever I create should last a lifetime. Prints are usually 30x40cm but I am happy to discuss other sizes.

PRICES

To give you an idea of prices, as of 2024 my prices for these are:

-'Bird Silhouette' signed and unframed print from £68 (plus postage)

-'Illustration on map' signed and unframed print from £190 (plus postage)

I am happy to frame your print too - the cost of this is usually around £35

For the bird silhouette prints I require payment up front - I will then send you photos of my progress before I send it to you.

For the illustration style work I require a 50% deposit and then the remaining payment once I send you photos of your completed picture.

THE PROCESS

The best thing to do to start with is to email me to check that your idea is something I can work with.

For the illustration style work it is often a good idea for you to send a couple of photos of people or places you would like to include. The photos don't need to be perfect, they are just to give me an idea of what to draw and create.

I will then agree a date to complete the work by, this can sometimes be as soon as a couple of weeks, depending on what other work I have on. For the bird silhouettes this is often one week.

I will then ask for payment/deposit and delivery address.

I will send you photos of progress or finished work to check it is how you imagined. We make any changes as necessary. I work in layers so quite often we can change a few things at this stage if need be.

I ask for final payment if any is due and I frame/package your print and send it to you.

Your print arrives with you or the lucky recipient, someone hangs it on a wall and hopefully it makes them happy for many years to come....
