On a train home with the Sun in my eyes
As the rays of winter sunlight hit my back they remind me of home in Margate, for a moment.
I book a train ticket home and as I sit by the window and the train starts to roll, pictures of; the town, the sea, people, light and snippets of conversations from so many years ago start to take form again and fill the pages of this book as maps, rhythms, illustrations, words and sunshine.
This is quite a big book at just under 21x30cm and 124 pages. The paper is lovely and thick and untreated so it has a nice matt feel. The book is printed by a company who seem to have a really good approach to their environmental and sustainability responsibilities. Your book will be sent carefully packaged in a strong cardboard book mailer and with my sincere gratitude. Thanks very much for your support
Chris
P.S.
On a train home with the Sun in my eyes
is about:
The Sun
Having a beach to yourself in winter
Being young
Getting older
The view from the window of a train
The islands close to the Arctic known as Britain
A town where people go to recover
A recovering town
Letting your mind wander
The sea
Art
A Black Backed Gull
Rock pools as entire universes
Things that make you smile*
[1] smile (verb):
To turn up the corners of the mouth when pleased or being friendly. Sometimes showing teeth.
* [2] smile (an emotional state particular to humans):
The smiles you do not realise you are making when you forget everything as you are lost in the moment enjoying your place in the universe.
On a train home with the Sun in my eyes
will hopefully
let you fall into its pages
and disappear for a while
leave you feeling
like you have been watching
the Sun set
is due out 3rd November 2025
