Smallbrook Queensway, Hurst Street Bridge, Birmingham - limited edition of 35 prints - 30x40cms

This is one of two prints I’ve made about these buildings. Most of the buildings in this print are due for demolition. Like so much modernist architecture it strongly divides opinion. Apparently local councilors can’t wait to see it go.

I’m not trying to justify anything here but I just know that I stood staring at the building, in fact the whole street for a while feeling……well……a bit excited!? Maybe a bit like when I stare at a gnarly, rocky cliff or crag. It doesn’t have to be shiny and nice, it just triggers a feeling.

So, these prints are intended to map and mark something that may very soon be gone. They are printed on a beautiful vintage 1950s map. Apparently it was in the 1950s that this project began as an attempt to build something positive from the destruction of the Birmingham Blitz.

This print is available framed or unframed and you can also decide whether you would like it mounted in an off-white mount.

If you select ‘30x40cm print’ then you will receive a print carefully rolled and sent in a thick cardboard tube. It is a high quality, fade resistant print. It is printed using ultrachrome ink on tiziano acid free paper.

If you select ‘Mounted print’ then you will receive the print hung in an off-white mount ready to frame. The mounted dimensions of the unframed print are 40x50 cms which means you can buy a frame from a shop rather than have one made, should you wish.

If you select ‘Framed print’ then you will receive a print, hung in a mount and framed ready to hang on the wall. The frame is a wood effect square edged frame as shown in the photos. The frame has an acrylic front rather than glass so is suitable for sending in the post.

Hope you like it.

Thanks for looking.

Chris
